About Me
- Name: Patrick
- Location: Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom
I'm an Engineer working in Tyne and Wear, having moved from Belfast 3 years ago. Before the move I had never lived away from home and have had to work alot of things out for myself. I'm a big fan of Ice Hockey, in particular my team the Belfast Giants who I travel to see all over the UK. I also have a beautiful fiancee Victoria with whom I live in Gateshead. I also publish a weekly Ice Hockey Podcast with my friend Aaron, available on iTunes called A View From The Bridge

We're On A Mission From Gyad!
Well we're up, with slight hangovers, for our second day in Vancouver. Last night we decided to go for dinner and drinks in a small Irish bar called The Irish Heather Bar (or "The Fiddlers something" as Claire called it after a few cocktails). V nice food, a v nice bar, not your typical Irish Bar outside of Ireland.... no neon shamrocks or bikes on the ceiling.. a genuine Irishman behind the bar... and some very nice drinks.
We sat ourselves at the bar and spent most of the night talkin to the barman "Bucky" (would like to think he's named after Buckfast!) from Belfast, nice guy, give us some good advice on what to do today. And poured a proper pint of Guinness (which I had to drink cos the 1664 was mingin and they were out of Carlsberg). Claire had a number of different cocktails at the barmans discression as we run up our tab. A Crantini (Cranberry Vodka Martini) and an Irish Black Russian (which "tastes like chocolate syrup").
Spoke with a load of people in the bar including a local wearing a Steven Gerrard Liverpool shirt who travelled to Anfield 4 times last season... 9 hours each way. And a very annoying English fella who wouldnt take a hint.
Anyway, had quite a few drinks and called the tab... but Bucky didnt charge us the full tab. Quality guy. The whole barstaff made us feel very welcome on our first real night in Canada.
Up early this morning... I went for a walk to see if i could find breakfast. No Joy..., only 7-Elevens, didnt really fancy a snickers and coke for breakfast, so went back to bed for a wee while.
We're now back in town, a bit more shoppin then sightseeing to do.
